Rainy Days

Keith has had a great schedule lately, so we've been enjoying some family time.  He was even able to make it to the zoo with us one afternoon on the free day. Unforunately it started to rain pretty much as soon as we got there.  This isn't that unusal, it rains a lot in Cleveland.  The kids loved watching this gorilla eat.

It's kinda hard to tell but they're both acting like gorillas by pounding on their chests in this one.

We were super excited to see the new grizzly bear cubs.

You can kind of see how hard it was raining by how soaked Keith is.  We were pretty much the only idiots still there by this point.

We tried to do mainly indoor exhibits and keep the stroller covered so the kids didn't get too wet.

But on the way out it was a downpour and we all got soaked, at least they were still happy.  Jaxson thought it was one of the greatest things ever!

Since we were all wet anyway we let the kiddos play in the puddles at our house until they got too cold.

Once again Jaxson thought this was the best idea and Kenna wasn't as sure.

What kid doesn't love play in the rain?

And although we did feel a little crazy, I will never forget that trip to the zoo, what an adventure it was!

Outside Play

Since we've been home, the kids and I have been spending a lot of time outside.  For the most part the weather has been great and since the kids have been away from their toys so long they seem new to them.

Jaxson has alwasy loved this car that our neighbors gave him and sometimes has a hard time sharing.  Luckily Kenna is often content to push him around.

But she doesn't like it when he gets going too fast and she can't be touching the car anymore.

 

She finally decided to take a seat and wait patiently, well as patiently as a one year old can wait.

And it finally paid off!  Jaxson decided to do something else and Kennadie got her turn with the car.  I had one happy girl.

Until she decided she wanted to roll in the grass like Jaxson but couldn't quite figure it out.  It was so funny watching her because she could not figure out how to get her body to do what she wanted it to.

Another daily occurence at our house lately has been bug hunting.  Everyday Jaxson asks if he can go out to look for bugs, and he is successful almost everyday.  Worms are his favorite and he was pretty thrilled this day because he had found multiple worms.

Some of them were fairly big as well.  Kinda gross, I know but I don't mind too much.  They keep him entertained for hours.

Yeah, he thinks he's pretty cool.

Kennadie always gets excited when Jax has a bug but isn't really wanting to touch them too much herself, which works out great because Jaxson is not the best at bug sharing.

Ice Cream

 To celebrate Keith being home and being all together again we went to our favorite ice cream place.

It's called the Big Dipper and we LOVE it!

Of course that was a hit with the kiddos!  I couldn't believe those were the kiddie cones.

I think this was the first time we actually bought some for Kenna, she isn't content to share with us anymore, she has to have her own of everything.

I was surprised how much of it she ate.

I was not surprised that this kid ate the whole thing.  It was a fun family outing, it's just sooo good to be together again.

Together at Last

We got home a few days before Keith, so we tried to keep busy and patiently wait for his return.

The day he came home we spent the morning preparing for his arrival, we were just a little excited!  So we made him some yummy chocolate cookies.

And a welcome home sign, which as you can tell the kids had a lot of fun making.

When the time was close we anxiously waited outside for him to drive up. 

Jaxson ran right to him and jumped in his arms, which was about my reaction as well.  Kennadie played shy for the first few minutes but it didn't take long for her to warm up to her beloved daddy. Two months was WAY too long for our family to be without Keith. I hope we never have to go that long again. He's such an amazing father and loving husband.  We love you, Keith!
