A Buggy Birthday Bash!

Originally Jaxson wanted a pig party.  I'm not sure where the idea came from but he was stuck on it for a while.  In his words this is what he wanted 'my daddy can eat lots of cookies and get a big tummy then he can be a pig for my pig party.' Needless to say Keith didn't go for that.  Thank goodness it didn't take much convincing to have a bug party instead, the boy is obessed with bugs.

These were the party hats we made for the kids to wear; Jaxson loved them more than anyone.
His 'buddies'.  Later when I asked him what the best part of his birthday was he said 'having a party with my best buddies.'
Our first activity was painting our caterpillars made out of egg cartons.  Jaxson is also in love with painting right now, so this was a hit for him.
Then we played a few games.  They went for a bug hunt in the yard.
Even Keith got into that one.
The next games were pin the spider on the web and 'buzz, buzz, sting' (which is just like duck, duck, goose).
Since our caterpillars were still not dry we went on to cake and ice cream.
He was pretty happy about his caterpillar cake.

The other buggy snacks.
Present time! His friends were so nice and knew just what to give him.  He loved everything!
Then we went outside to smash our bee pinata, that Jax helped make.

Finally we did our caterpillar races, even though they still weren't completely dry. (I forgot how much kids like to gob the paint on).

They liked this better than I thought.  Then they all played outside until it was time to go because it was such a beautiful day.
Posted by PicasaI had meant to get a family pic earlier but forgot until we had started putting the kids to bed, so we quickly snapped one with the half eaten cake.  After the party was over Jax gave me a big hug and told me 'thanks for the greatest party, Mom' without me even prompting him.  That made it all worth it.  We sure love this boy!
